THE 1ST INTERNATIONAL OBOE COMPETITION OF TOKYO, JAPAN 1985

Required Repertoire

【First Stage】

The following are the possible test pieces. The piece to be performed will be announced on the day of the Competition:

  1. R.Schumann 3 Romanzen for Oboe and Piano op.94
  2. B.Britten 6 Metamorphoses after Ovid op.49:Nr.2 “Thaeton” and Nr.4 “Bacchus”
  3. A.Vivaldi Sonata for Oboe in c-minor
【Second Stage】

The following three pieces should be performed:

  1. W.A.Mozart Concerto for Oboe and Orchestra in C-Major KV.314 (285d)
  2. Choose one from the following pieces:
    (a) L.Berio Sequenza Ⅶ
    (b) A.Castiglioni Alef Komposition
    (c) Isang Yun Piri for Oboe solo
    (d) M.Shinohara Reflexion
  3. Choose one from the following pieces:
    (a) H.Dutilleux Sonate pour Hautbois et Piano
    (b) F.Poulenc Sonate pour Hautbois et Piano
    (c) D.Milhaud Sonatine
    (d) C.Saint-Saens Sonata for Oboe and Piano in D-Major op.166
    (e) A.Pasculli Concerto sopra motive dell`opera “La Favorita” di Donizetti
【Final Stage】

The following two pieces should be performed:

  1. R.Strauss Concerto for Obo
  2. J.S.Bach Sonata in g-minor BWV.1030b

N.B

  1. With the exception of unaccompanied pieces, all pieces are to be accompanied by Piano.
  2. Please write out the titles of the 2 test pieces chosen by the contestant to be performed at the 2nd Preliminary Stage, in the blank space provided in the Application Form.
