Masaru YOSHIDA (bassoon)

Principal Bassoonist of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo

Born in 1964, Tokyo. After graduation from the Musashino Music College Tokyo (studied under Koji Okazaki), he studied under Klaus Thunemann at the Hochschüle für Musik, Theater und Medien Hanover and graduated in 1989. He won the 2nd prize of the 3rd Japan Wind and Percussion Competition in 1986 and he joined the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie as the principal bassoonist in 1987. After the principal bassoonist at the Vlaamse Opera in Belgium, he was appointed the principal bassoonist of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Tokyo in 1989. He is teaching at the Musashino Music College Tokyo and active to play bassoon as the principal player at the Saito Kinen (Memorial) Festival Orchestra, the Mito Chamber Orchestra etc.and at various festivals like the Kiso- Fukushima Music Festival and the Miyazaki International Chamber Music Festival etc.
