Naoko Sugiyama graduated from the Music department of the Toho Joshi High School and then the Toho Gakuen School of Music. While performing mainly as an ensemble player and as a choir accompanist, Sugiyama teaches at the Music Studio affiliated to the Showa Academia Musicae, coaching younger people. Sugiyama participated in the 7th International Oboe Competition of Tokyo as an official accompanist.
